We all know the economy is bad, and there is no end in sight when or if it might get better. On average the price of food in my area is up 25% on the items I normally buy. Feeding a large family has become more of a challenge. I concentrate on buying in bulk. For example if a product is on sale and I have a coupon which the store will double I buy as many as I can. I might buy 15 boxes of of spaghetti noodles at 30 cents each or 10 tubes of toothpaste which are free. I am in a coupon swap locally which makes this possible.
I want to encourage others to rethink how they buy food and products for their homes. Buying in bulk does create it’s own problem to many people with the question, how can I store all this food? Donna Martin of www.biblicalwomanhood.org has written a new book that I highly recommend to get you started. The book emphasizes the importance of a home food pantry, and it gives you guidelines on how to establish one in your home. It can be used by the person who wants to use it as a money-saving tool or for setting up an emergency home pantry. The book is 36 pages, and it is written from a Christian perspective. The chapters are titled as follows:
1. Why Do I Need a Pantry?
2. Where Am I Supposed to Put This Stuff?
3. What Goes in My Pantry?
4. Beans, Beans are Good for Your Heart!
5. Speaking from Experience
6. Conclusion
It is selling for $5, and the shipping is included in the price. Delivery time will be in 1-2 weeks since it is still at the printer. If you would like it immediately you can get a pdf. file copy on Ebay (click here)
This book and her other one are both on eBay. “Living Frugally in an Unfrugal World” will be on sale for $5, plus $2 shipping until May 17th. That is $1 off of the regular price, and $2 off of the original selling price.
If you would like to order either of these books and pay through Paypal, she can send you an invoice. Just be sure to include your Paypal address and which book you would like to buy. If you would like to order by mail, her address is:
